When I started to compose and program MIDI accompaniments to Kreutzer's 42 Studies, I did so for my own enjoyment and to share them with my students. Although I love these etudes today, when my violin teacher assigned them to me in junior high and high school, I found them to be tedious. Their beauty and elegance were simply not obvious to my inexperienced ears. Now, Kreutzer's harmonies are clear to me, and that fact alone makes them more enjoyable to play. I'm quite sure that if I'd had these accompaniments way back when, I would have practiced them more!

My goal is to eventually compose accompaniments for all 42 Studies, but with two small children at home, I don't know when I'll actually get to them. So I offer these that I have done freely, that they may enhance your appreciation of these ageless and beautiful Caprices. - GV
